Brand Illustration System: Taiwan Electric Motorcycle

In early 2022, I was reached out to by an electric motorcycle tech company based in Taiwan to create a 2D brand illustration system. However, due to a pivot in their marketing strategy, this project was eventually discontinued.

In spite of the outcome, there were several interesting characteristics
and attributes to the system in exploration. So I wanted to share some of my thought process and thinking behind the visual development.

Electric vehicles are the future of transportation in densely populated cities.
The style needs to convey a sense of contemporary flair that reflects the modern, diverse lifestyle.

Key Points

- Visual approach that is rooted in geometry, but is still expressive.

- Bridging the gap between 2D and the brand’s existing
3D world.

- Character style with range of mobility in movement.

- Character charisma and attitude.

- Achieving more with less.

Character Interaction with 3D Objects

One key attribute that is unique to this system is the way flat illustrations are paired with 3D objects in perspective to create a sense of dimension and space. Since the company produces tangible products and also have 3D visual assets, it was also crucial to consider how the 2D characters would interact with them.
